Meet Kendra

I help doulas, midwives, and lactation consultants organize their back-office and set up their pricing so their business actually fits their life.

Most training programs are wonderful at teaching you how to provide support, but they don't really show you how to run the actual business. They teach you the heart of the work, but you're left to figure out the paperwork, the scheduling, and how to manage the business side completely on your own.

Hi, I’m Kendra Lonon. As a certified doula specializing in business setup and finance, I bridge that gap. I take the guesswork out of the moving parts behind the scenes so you can build a stable, thriving practice while taking amazing care of your clients without missing out on your own family.

About
Before I ever attended a birth, I was the owner of a bookkeeping and consulting business. As someone who builds systems, and reads numbers, I was able to see why a business is or isn’t working. I actually found my way into this field by helping my own doula trainer revamp her website and clarify what she was offering. Spending hours and hours doing research, I could not ignore the stories. That's when this work pulled me in and truly became a calling.
But, I quickly observed this: doulas fell on two ends of the spectrum. They were either completely booked out or struggling and ready to give up. I was so determined to create a thriving practice and not fall into the struggling doula category that I went all in, saying yes to every client and every opportunity. While I was fully booked, behind the scenes, I found myself miserable, running on fumes, constantly tired, and burnt out. To make matters worse, my children started missing me because I was never home. When I left for a birth, I couldn’t tell them when I would be back.
Why I do this, unapologetically.
At the peak of my burnout, when I searched, there was not very much information on teaching birthworkers how to intentionally design a practice that didn't eat up their life. Plus, the information on business, marketing, and practice was very generic and had a one-size-fits-all approach.
Honestly? It still baffles me. Aspiring doulas who are very passionate about this work pour thousands into training and certification, then get sent into the world with no map for the part that decides whether they ever do the work at all. The organizations aren’t villains; business simply isn’t what they typically teach. But the results are often the same. Gifted, trained doulas remain stuck at the starting line, trying to figure out what they are doing wrong, or have no guidance on how to design the work around their lives. Using my experience, business insights, and thoughtfully created tools, my mission is to help you build a thriving practice that enables you to have the business you desire without the hustle.
